Our most physically challenging trip, the Kiwi Classic Hiking Adventure Tour has all the more reason to demand an excellent place to stay each night – you’ll need to have plenty of comfortable space to reflect back on your day and prepare for your next adventures. You’ll stay in a range of places and enjoy a different experience in each.
Milford Wanderer (Milford Sound)
The Milford Wanderer is a purpose built vessel designed to replicate a traditional trading scow and is perfectly suited to cruising the fiords. This is one of only a couple of options for staying overnight in Milford, so you’re one of a lucky few in the world that will get to wake up in the morning in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Your relaxed overnight cruise will take you to view the fiord’s waterfalls, rainforests, mountains and wildlife and you’ll have the opportunity to explore by small boat or kayak too.
You’ll stay in a private cabin with shared bathrooms and be served a 3 course dinner and a cooked breakfast prepared by the onboard chef. A specialist nature guide is on board to provide information and answer questions.
Lake Ohau Quarters (Mackenzie Country)
Your group will have exclusive use of this modern purpose built lodge in one of New Zealand’s most spectacular High Country Stations. The Lake Ohau Station unfolds over a dramatic, glacier-carved valley and is nestled into the rugged peaks of the Southern Alps. We have access to a range of rooms, including some multi-share accommodation, and separate bathrooms for men and women. Make yourself at home and enjoy the ambient space of the lounge, snuggle up by the huge fire and share a meal at the long table - Kiwi family style.
Mt Cook Lodge
One of only two places to stay in the Mount Cook National Park you’ll be treated to incredible views from your doorstep. Settle into your comfortable, warm and modern room to rest your legs after a day in the hills. If you want to explore further you’re close to numerous marked walkways and the local visitor centre too.
White Morph (Kaikoura)
The White Morph is a mere stone's throw from the gorgeous Kaikoura beach. These well-appointed and spacious garden-facing studios all have the facilities and quality amenities you need, with a patio or balcony to enjoy the sun.
The Palms Motel Nelson
Located within a short walk to the centre of town, this smart hotel in sunny nelson makes for a happy stay. Your unit will have a fully kitted out kitchenette if you fancy cooking something up on your day off and a swimming pool, perfect for cooling off. There’s even a shared BBQ and dining area by the pool.
Angelus Backcountry Mountain Hut (Nelson Lakes National Park)
This night will be spent far out in the wilderness to give you a real taste of adventure, but of course with a touch of New Zealand Trails luxury thrown in! The Department of Conservation manage a network of 950 backcountry huts all over New Zealand and they are an incredible resource for residents and visitors alike. You’ll stay in the smart and modern Angelus Hut, which sleeps 28 people in shared bunks. There is a separate living and sleeping area heated by a log burner. You’ll be surprised at the amazing meal your guides can cook up and at how well you sleep after such a big day in the outdoors. Facilities may be basic, but it’s a place you will remember forever.
Edgewater Resort Wanaka
A stunning lakeside retreat, with charming apartment style accommodation, offering you the opportunity to relax and unwind in luxury after a busy day in the outdoors. Take advantage of the spa and sauna facilities before or after dinner, or take a walk along the lakefront track for incredible panoramic views of Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps.
