Kiwi Classic Accommodation

On the Kiwi Classic trip, you'll sleep soundly in comfortable accommodations that we have chosen specifically for their fantastic locations. You’ll meet friendly hosts and have a private ensuite room most nights. For a classic New Zealand backcountry experience, we'll spend two nights in Department of Conservation backcountry huts with shared facilities. 

Ohau Lodge

Ohau Lodge is a family-run lodge overlooking the beautiful Lake Ōhau and the Southern Alps. Within easy reach of Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, it’s the perfect place to unwind and settle in for a great night’s sleep after a day of exploring. Set within the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, you only need to step outside to enjoy some world-class star-gazing. 

The Palms Motel Nelson

Located within a short walk to the centre of town, this smart hotel in sunny Nelson makes for a happy stay. Your unit will have a fully kitted out kitchenette if you fancy cooking something up on your day off and a swimming pool, perfect for cooling off. There’s even a shared BBQ and dining area by the pool.

Wonderland Makarora

Our Kiwi Classic tour gets you even further off the beaten track than our other trips, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the wilderness and stay in unique accommodations deep in our National Parks. Wonderland Makarora is situated on the edge of Mount Aspiring National Park, and the well-appointed A-frame cabins have spectacular views of the Southern Alps.

For Trips Departing Prior to April 31st, 2027 - Nydia Lodge - Backcountry Hut

Trips departing prior to April 31st, 2027 will have two nights in backcountry huts. These huts are far out in the wilderness to give you a real taste of adventure. The Department of Conservation manages a network of 950 backcountry huts all over New Zealand and they are an incredible resource for residents and visitors alike. You’ll stay at Nydia Lodge — a backcountry hut with bunk-style accommodation, tucked into the native bush. The facilities may be basic, but it’s a place you will remember forever. 

Trips departing after May 1st, 2027 will stay at Harbour View Motel in Picton.

Perched on a hill above Picton, Harbour View Motel puts you right above the action, with modern, spacious studio units and apartments looking out over Picton Harbour, the marina and the hills of the Marlborough Sounds beyond. 

It's just a short stroll down into Picton Village, where cafés, restaurants and the waterfront are all within easy reach, so you can head out for dinner and be back in time to catch the sunset from your room.
