Who will I be travelling with?

We keep our group sizes small, so you’ll be exploring New Zealand with a group of no more than 10-14 people. We hear from lots of people who are travelling to New Zealand alone or looking for New Zealand tours for solo travellers, so you’ll find there’s a very healthy mix of people and age ranges on our tours - couples, friends, parents travelling with grown-up kids, as well as single travellers. Chances are you won’t be the only person in the group who’s decided to test the waters of solo travel in New Zealand!

New friends and experiences

Discerning solo travellers who join us on our trips will enjoy more than just the stunning scenery, rich culture and fascinating history of our beautiful country. New Zealand Trails guests are typically outdoorsy and keen to try new things (even if they might feel a little nervous at first) so we find that everyone gets on very well, with many choosing to take more trips together down the track.

New Zealand tours for singles

We cater for New Zealand tours for singles, groups of friends, and anyone looking for a spot of great company on their adventures.

You’ll be travelling with a group of like-minded individuals, including other solo travellers, and experiencing New Zealand together for the first time. You’ll hike at your own pace, perhaps falling in step with a new friend as you soak in the views, sharing experiences and stories. You quickly form bonds with the group as you relax together over a delicious evening meal, enjoying a glass of wine and reflecting on the day’s activities. We find many of our guests choose to keep in touch even after their trip is over.

Retain your freedom

You’ll have plenty of time to relax or hike by yourself if you’re after a bit of solitude. Our itineraries are designed with flexibility in mind so that we can tailor them to suit you.

Solo hiking in New Zealand

There's something special about solo hiking in New Zealand with a group; soak up the serenity of our incredible landscapes and gorgeous walks, then reconvene with your group for some laughs over a delicious meal.

If you’re by nature an introverted person, there are many times throughout the trip where you’ll be able to recharge your batteries in peaceful alone-time. And if you’re more of an extrovert, you’ll find there’s always great company and interesting conversation to be had with your fellow travellers and guides.

Either way, we treat all our guests as individuals, whether they’re travelling to New Zealand alone or as part of a group. We want you to have an incredible time on your trip and we can’t wait to share our stunning corner of the globe with you!

Optional

No forced single supplements

Here at New Zealand Trails we don’t think forced single supplements are right. So, if you’re happy to share with another person of the same sex, then you’ll be teamed up with a fellow solo traveller to room with each night. Of course, if you would rather have your own room then we can arrange that for an extra cost. The choice is yours.
